AltMagic Image Alt Text (“AltMagic”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) provides AI-powered image alt text generation for WordPress websites. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use the AltMagic plugin and related services.

1. Information We Process

When you use the plugin to generate alt text, the following information may be transmitted to our servers and trusted AI providers:

  • Uploaded image content (transmitted securely over HTTPS)
  • Image filenames and MIME types
  • Your WordPress website URL (used to identify your account)
  • Freemius installation identifier (when available)
  • A unique request ID (for idempotency — prevents double-charging on retries)
  • API request metadata and usage statistics related to credit consumption

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the plugin.

2. How We Use Information

We process information solely for the following purposes:

  • Generating AI-powered image alt text
  • Providing and maintaining plugin functionality
  • Managing subscriptions, credits, and usage limits
  • Preventing fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Monitoring service reliability, debugging, and performance
  • Improving the quality and accuracy of generated results

3. External AI Services

To generate alt text, the plugin transmits image data through the AltMagic proxy to an external AI provider (currently OpenAI). These providers are only authorized to process data for the purpose of completing the requested generation task.

By using the plugin, you consent to this processing and transmission.

4. Freemius (Licensing & Payments)

This plugin uses Freemius to manage licensing, subscriptions, and credit purchases.

5. Data Retention

We do not sell personal information. Generated requests, usage logs, and related metadata may be temporarily stored for operational, billing, debugging, security, abuse prevention, and service performance purposes. We retain data only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and protect the service.

6. Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect transmitted information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Third-Party Services

The plugin may rely on third-party infrastructure providers, including:

  • Cloud hosting providers
  • Payment and licensing systems (Freemius)
  • Artificial intelligence platforms (OpenAI)

These services may process limited operational data necessary to provide functionality.

8. Children’s Privacy

The service is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
